DIEGO PEREZ ESPITIA
Architect (Honours degree, Universidad de los Andes), MArch AADRL (Architectural Association)
Diego Perez Espitia is a registered architect in Colombia. He has over 15 years of working experience in practices based in Colombia, China and the UK. He has worked on projects located in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe. He received his Diploma in Architecture with Honours in 2000 from University of Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia. He later joined the Design Research Lab at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, becoming an specialist in Parametric Design and receiving a Masters degree in Architecture and Urbanism, in 2008.
Before founding Perez Reiter, Diego worked for Zaha Hadid Architects. He was involved in complex geometry and facade development for a number of projects, such as Hongqiao Linkong SOHO Shanghai (built); BBK Headquarters Bilbao; an exhibition hall in Cairo and competitions for office buildings and a University campus in Germany and Morroco. He constantly applied scripting and parametric techniques to address design challenges.
Diego worked in Colombia for 6 years on the design of different building types at various scales, for both public and private clients. As an architect at Juan Pablo Ortiz Architects, he was involved in all stages of design for several institutional buildings, including Waste Recycling Plants for Bogota and Ecopetrol Archive. In collaboration with Architect Antonio Manrique, Diego worked on applied research projects, designing community centres, public spaces and a library for poor communities living in Bogota’s slums.
In 2008, Diego moved to China and joined MAD Architects, where he was Project Architect for Chongqing Skyscraper and Beijing’s Conrad Hotel. He also initiated and lead the Parametric Design Team, developing building sub-systems for over 12 on-going projects, including several skyscrapers, the Qunli Museum, Taichung Exhibition and Convention Centre, and Erdos Museum.
Diego has lectured on Parametric and Generative design in Beijing, Bogotá, Cardiff, Mexico City, Port Au Prince, Istanbul, London and Xi’An. He has taught at Tsinghua University, the Architectural Association School of Architecture and University of Los Andes.

Irmgard Reiter is Partner of Perez Reiter and a registered Architect in Austria. Before she founded Perez Reiter Architects she was working in architectural offices in Europe, the US and Asia.
Her work in Austria focused on prefabricated timber construction and sustainability carried out in architectural offices holding awards for Sustainable Architecture and Low-energy Housing.
Later she joined Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, in New York City. One of the largest and most influential architecture, interior design, engineering and urban planning firms in the world. Working on large scale projects such as residential towers, sports facilities and urban master planning, she played a key role implementing the Green high-rise condominium ‘Toren’ which received several awards for Residential Architecture and was honored for Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability.
After spending several years in the United States she relocated to Asia to work with the renowned chinese architectural practice MAD Architects in Beijing with a strong emphasis on sustainability and bridging eastern and western culture. Based in her expertise she was involved in large scale projects, including "Chongqing Urban Forest", "Taichung Convention Center" amongst others. Later on, while working with GRAFT Beijing her responsibilities involved design and implementation of retail and hospitality projects.
Irmgard Reiter was born in Austria and graduated from the Architectural University of Innsbruck with honors, “Summa Cum Laude“. Her thesis project is published in a Monograph “Ways through Art“. Her studio design and thesis projects have been shown in exhibitions by the Austrian Architectural Institute.
At Columbia University in New York City, she completed her studies with a Post Master Degree for Advanced Architectural Design. Her emphasis and main interest is the capacity of algorithmic design processes in combination with cutting edge technology to create sustainable architectural solutions for tomorrow's society.
